“Its difficult to communicate to readers how yummy something is! Here, I simply bake par-cooked broccoli in seasoned double cream and the result was… well, incredible. I have no other words… this keto side dish will hopefully blow your hair back as much as it did mine. Be sure to also check out all the Side Dishes on this site.” – Monya

Roast Garlic Aioli (Keto)

Roast Garlic Aioli Keto

“I enhanced an easy homemade mayonnaise recipe by simply stirring in roasted garlic, and the flavour is incredible! Enjoy with things like my Keto Crumbed Mushrooms or Keto Onion Rings. The macros are calculated on a serving being one generously-heaped tablespoon, approx. 30g / 1oz, so this batch will make about 7 servings. Store covered in the fridge for no longer than 4 days.” – Monya

“These dreamy, keto chocolate mug cakes take just a few minutes to throw together. It took several trials to achieve this great texture. The recipe makes two, so you can tuck into them with your loved one as a dessert or a sweet breakfast. They are best eaten warm with a dollop of extra cream.” – Monya

Courgettes Baked in Cream (Keto)

Courgettes Baked in Cream Keto

“Double cream tastes amazing when it’s baked in the oven! The flavour of baked cream completely changes into a deep, rich full-flavoured smack of heaven! Here, I chose to do courgettes baked in cream and I was not disappointed. Be sure to finish the dish with plenty of seasoning. I love using smoked sea salt flakes).” – Monya

Chicken Liver Parfait (Keto)

Chicken Liver Parfait Keto
Keto Chicken Liver Parfait

“This chicken liver parfait recipe fills 4 ramekins, and the macros indicate these can generously be shared between four people. If you aren’t hosting a dinner-party-for-eight, simply freeze the remaining ramekins like I did. I spread this creamy delight on my Keto Mixed Seed Crackers (as pictured, but not included in macros).” – Monya

Mixed Seed Crackers (Keto)

Mixed Seed Crackers Keto

“These fantastically crispy, mixed seed crackers can be used to scoop up your favourite dip or salsa. Follow the recipe below to yield 10 even-sized slices, because at only 2g carbs per serving (one serving = 2 large crackers), you can now do so completely guilt-free! Don’t omit the salt (as I did in my first trial) because its a necessary addition. Be sure to also cook both sides to achieve maximum crunch and colour. A batch of these lasted several days in a sealed Tupperware and I happily spread my Keto Chicken Liver Parfait on them. I have tried these using ground chia as well. They turn out equally good, but I prefer the flavour of ground flax.” – Monya

Chicken Mayo Open Sarnies (using Keto Seed Loaf)

Chicken Mayo Open Sarnies Keto

“This is just a quick idea where I made mini chicken mayo sandwiches using slices of my Seed bread. That lovely bread recipe in my first cookbook Keto Kitchen, page 20. I simply tossed cooked chicken pieces in Homemade Mayonnaise and enjoyed it with sweet tomato slices and avocado. Clean eating all the way! TIP: If any seeds fall off the crust of the loaf, scatter them over your sandwich for extra crunch and texture. The macros include the whole lot (two slices, as pictured): not too bad for a lovely lunch using all of your efforts.” – Monya

Cream-baked Eggs (Keto)

Cream-baked Eggs Keto

“If you need some inspiration to jazz up eggs, may I remind you about cream-baked eggs. My recipe below is uncomplicated and packed with flavour. It’s my go-to dish when I don’t feel like cooking and Funnyman is travelling. Ramekins are great here. Enjoy with my (toasted) Quick Chia Keto Bread, or any other bread recipes that you fancy. Truth be told, I just dive in with a teaspoon. Traditionally, the eggs are cooked in a bain-marie, but I pop it into the oven, as is to simply things.” – Monya

Cuppa Creamy Tomato Soup

Creamy Tomato Soup
Cream of Tomato Cup of Soup

“Nostalgia is a strange thing and it was only my time spent at the Fat Duck that really made me appreciate the link between nostalgia and food. Although I live in UK now, I am from Cape Town and grew up in Johannesburg. Winters were bitterly cold in Joeys, and there was no such thing as central heating to help you through those months. Soups were standard and my favourite one was a creamy tomato soup my mother made (from a packet!). I attempted a homemade one the other day and was delighted with the outcome. Its a hefty 9.8g carbs per cup, but worth it since its so filling and moreish. I used the gluten-free Knorr chicken stock pots, but you can use your own homemade chicken broth for an even cleaner soup.” – Monya

Salmon and Cream Cheese Domes (Keto)

Salmon and Cream Cheese Domes Keto

“Need a pretty-looking appetiser? These little domes are simply made using seasoned cream cheese wrapped in smoked salmon. To achieve the cute dome shape, I used clingfilm-lined mini pudding (dariole) moulds. They were then simply tipped upside down before serving. Try these with slices of toasted Quick Chia Keto Bread (not included in macros) for a lovely, fresh appetiser for four people.” – Monya

Lemon Thyme Chicken with Glaze (Keto)

Lemon Thyme Chicken with Glaze Keto
Chicken with Lemon

“Deliciously zingy and packed with flavour, this simple lemon thyme chicken dish requires minimum effort and cleaning up. I fry chicken thighs skin-side down to render and crisp the skin, then cook them in a lemon, garlic and thyme chicken stock (skin-side up). I then took it one step further, and reduced the strained cooking juices to a thick, full-flavoured glaze. I brush this over before serving. Serve with some lovely vegetables – see the SIDE DISHES on this site for some inspiration.” – Monya

Mixed Seed Bread (Keto)

Keto Seed Loaf

“Developing keto bread without using any form of gluten is not easy. Even Vital Wheat Gluten is used in the majority of store-bought ‘keto’ breads. My keto mixed seed bread is gluten-free, and very loosely based on the 90-second microwave bread on this site, but its baked in a (2lb) loaf tin . I liken this bread to what I remember rye bread being. Its fairly dense, but really delivers on flavour! UPDATE: I have taken this recipe off this blog because I worked hard to bring you a new-and-improved version that now features in my cookbook Keto Kitchen.” – Monya

Lemon and Poppy Seed Cupcakes

“I have always loved the combination of lemon and poppy seeds so I am thrilled with this keto lemon and poppy seed cupcakes recipe. The recipe took a few trials to get here (don’t even ask how many zested lemons were sitting in my fridge!). But, in the end, it is dead-easy. They have a beautiful texture and a delicious flavour. They also come in at only 3.4g carbs per cupcake (including the cream cheese frosting!). Be sure to check out the other Desserts and Sweet Treats on this site. Keto Jalapeño Poppers

Keto Jalapeno Poppers

“Let me tell you how these keto jalapeno poppers made its way onto this blog. There are many nights when Funnyman and I sit and brainstorm new dishes to create for the blog. I only feature dishes on this blog that we LOVE to eat and WANT to eat. So, please forgive me if there aren’t many “10-minute-meals” because that’s not the kind of cooking I like to do. I love being in my kitchen and I love experimenting with ingredients in my fridge and pantry! As a chef, I know ingredients need to be respected and cooked in a way that will make them shine. As a keto devotee, this is where I love to get stuck in because I love a challenge. One night, we were reminiscing about a trip we took to Cozumel several years ago and that chat inspired these keto jalapeno poppers! Enjoy!” – Monya

Chicken and Veg with Balsamic Drizzle (Keto)

Chicken and Veg with Balsamic Drizzle Keto

“The great flavour of this chicken and veg with balsamic drizzle is enhanced further by the addition of basil. I especially love the balsamic mustard reduction drizzled over at the end. It brings a sharpness that shapes the whole dish and a key flavour to the end-result. The whole lot takes only 35 minutes to cook, but this means getting some things going at the same time. I have outlined an efficient order in the method below. Remember, always preheat your oven and prep all your components before you even start cooking – its good practice for any cook. As amazing as this dish is, you may want to save it for a day after intermittent fasting because it still calculates at 12g carbs per serving. Be sure to see all the Poultry dishes on the site.” – Monya
