“I am clocking this beautiful egg drop soup for my next book, so remember that you saw it here first! It is so simple! Not only does it use only a handful of ingredients, but it delivers massive flavours! This is due to the addition of shiitake mushrooms (fresh, not dried please) which adds an important, distinct umami note. The partially cooked thin slices of ginger provide a little texture and hints of warm, “spiciness” which is equally special. While this keto meal is very low in fat, I think it could be perfect for those who are close to reaching their fat macros for the day, but still desire a full-flavoured, satisfying meal. And, I promise you – this one does just that! Enjoy!” – Monya

“If you feel the need to pimp your eggs, why not fold through some cooked, buttery spinach? I did this one day and it was so deliciously satisfying! It also couldn’t be easier or more perfectly keto!. Full of flavour and deeply satiating, you won’t even miss the toast! Perfectly suitable for any time of the day!” – Monya

“I love this creamy red cabbage bake! Not only is the flavour of baked cream so intoxicating, but different vegetables will offer varying textures. I especially like how red cabbage never ‘completely’ softens, so it offers some texture here. Remember, as with all my veg side dish ideas – be sure to enjoy it with a cut of meat or fish so you get your essential protein in. I always garnish my dishes with herbs I have at hand. This not only makes your presentation prettier, but it adds a fresh flavour dimension. With this recipe, you can use parsley or chives but I actually had wild rocket in the fridge which I chopped up. Rocket has a slightly peppery flavour, so this was a nice touch.” – Monya

“This shrimp with chunky guacamole is just a quick and easy recipe to show how yummy cooked prawns can be when used to scoop up a rustic, chunky guacamole. It couldn’t be simpler! If you like, you could add some chilli powder to the prawns while they cook!” – Monya

“This keto salad is one of my favourite to throw together because I always have these elements in the fridge. In summertime, while Funnyman takes care of the meat on the braai (BBQ), I quickly whip this up. It takes me less than 15 minutes! It also makes a great keto lunch idea if you add pieces of cooked, leftover roast chicken.” – Monya

“I had some rosemary and Portobello mushrooms, so I made these cheese stuffed mushrooms to have alongside lamb. This recipe makes 4 stuffed mushrooms and the macros are shown per mushroom. If you are cooking for more people (or if you anticipate you may want more than one), scale up using the facility on the “Servings” yield on the recipe. This will adjust your ingredient amounts automatically. Massive, beautiful flavours, I hope you love these cheese stuffed mushrooms!” – Monya

“This red cabbage slaw is a lovely, tasty salad to enjoy as a side salad at your BBQ. It is super-simple to make, and I just love the hot pink colour! Be sure to enjoy it with a lovely cut of meat which will offer some much-needed protein and fat.” – Monya

“Cauliflower in garlic browned butter is a great vegetable side dish. In this easy recipe, I simply melt garlic browned butter over cooked cauliflower. It is delicious served with grilled fish, chicken or meat.” – Monya

“I combine caramelised mushrooms with a fragrant tarragon mayonnaise in this fried mushroom and tarragon salad. This will be enough for 4 people to enjoy as a side salad. It is so simple and you will love the unusual, delightful flavours!” – Monya

“This creamy coconut broccoli bake is a lovely way to enjoy broccoli (or broccolini) in a creamy, dairy-free bake. I reduce and infuse full-fat coconut milk, then use it to cook the broccoli until tender. It then goes into the oven for a further bake. This coconut broccoli bake is simply delicious enjoyed with your favourite meat!” – Monya

“Tuna steaks with kale and avocado tomato relish is a mighty big meal. It is perfect for hungry summer days! My generous tuna steaks are marinated in coconut aminos (you can also use tamari if you don’t mind soy), then cooked in a griddle pan to get lovely char-marks. I serve it over a fresh kale salad seasoned with sesame oil. It is a delight when finished with a simple avocado and tomato salsa. High in protein, fibre and so many nutrients!” – Monya

“You will love this bacon wrapped monkfish recipe idea! Monkfish is a delicately flavoured fish (albeit quite MEATY in that it is dense and filling). It requires a little more cooking time than regular fish fillets, which makes it the perfect option to wrap a strip of bacon around before baking. I love smoked, streaky bacon because there is more fat that will render out into the fish while cooking. More importantly, it is the smokiness of the bacon that is the beautiful dominant flavour. The bacon wrapped monkfish fillets are then served with a lovely, simple yogurt dressing drizzled over. This recipe is so easy, very tasty and perfect with your favourite greens on the side. ” – Monya
