Broccolini with Sesame Dressing (Keto)

Broccolini with Sesame Dressing Keto

“I love broccoli, but I especially love ‘broccolini’ (Tenderstem) which makes for a more attractive presentation. This broccolini with sesame dressing is a delicious side veg option. It is simply cooked broccolini smothered in a quick and easy dressing boasting the intoxicating flavour of toasted sesame oil and a little tamari (gluten-free soy sauce).” – Monya

More on Broccolini with Sesame Dressing…

The keto diet, known for its emphasis on low-carbohydrate and high-fat foods, can sometimes feel restrictive when it comes to side dishes. However, broccolini in a sesame and tamari dressing offers a delicious and satisfying option that aligns perfectly with the principles of this diet.

Broccolini is a nutrient-dense vegetable packed with vitamins, minerals, and fibre. When paired with a tasty dressing, this dish not only enhances the flavour but also provides additional health benefits.

The sesame and tamari dressing adds a delightful umami flavour to the broccolini. Sesame oil brings a rich nutty taste, while tamari, a gluten-free soy sauce, adds depth and complexity. Tamari also contains essential amino acids and antioxidants, supporting overall well-being.

Moreover, sesame seeds are a source of protein and healthy fats, providing satiety and promoting a feeling of fullness. They are also rich in minerals like calcium, iron, and magnesium.

It is important to note that to maintain ketosis, it’s essential to track carbohydrate intake and ensure it aligns with your daily macro goals. Instructions

  • Trim the broccolini. I always pull off the little leaves as I find them bitter. I care about presentation, so I often neatly trim just the gnarly tip off the base of the stem.
  • Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the broccolini until tender (although I like them to still have a little 'crunch').
Drain well in a colander and set aside to keep warm.
  • In the meantime, simply whisk the sesame oil, tamari and rice wine vinegar in a small bowl.
  • Just before serving, drizzle the dressing over the warm broccolini (which you can arrange beautifully on a platter so they lie in an even layer). Scatter over the sesame seeds and nigella seeds. Super easy and super tasty!
