Broccolini, a hybrid vegetable combining the best of broccoli and Chinese kale, is a perfect choice for keto enthusiasts. Packed with essential nutrients and fibre, it offers a refreshing crunch and vibrant green colour. When smothered in this luscious garlic sage butter, its natural flavours are enhanced, creating a mouth-watering combination that is both nutritious and satisfying.
To complete the meal, other low-carb vegetables can be incorporated. Think of vibrant bell peppers, zucchini, and asparagus, lightly sautéed to retain their crispness. Broccolini in Garlic Sage Butter
Per serving
Equipment
Ingredients
- 200 g (7 oz) broccolini
- 25 g (1 oz) unsalted butter
- 8 sage leaves, finely chopped
- 1 cloves garlic, crushed using a garlic press
- salt and freshly ground black pepper
Instructions
- Bring a pan of salted water to the boil and add the broccolini, cooking for 4-5 minutes until just tender.
- Drain in a colander and season with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
- At the same time in a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat . Once foaming, reduce the heat to medium-low and add the crushed garlic. Cook very gently until the garlic softens, approx. 1 minute. Do not allow the garlic to burn or brown, it will turn bitter. Stir through the sage and remove from the heat.
- Pour the flavoured butter over the broccolini and serve immediately.
