“A delicious and comforting tipple, my keto mulled wine recipe makes just enough for 4 people and it comes in surprisingly low in carbs. You can use any red wine, but I have showcased my favourite. I also love adding a little Madeira (in place of traditional red port). As we all know, mulled wine is best enjoyed warm. Enjoy!” – Monya

What sets this Keto Mulled Wine apart is the clever substitution of sugar with a keto-friendly sweetener like erythritol. This alternative adds just the right amount of sweetness without compromising the low-carb nature of the drink. Once the wine is infused with the spices and sweetener, strain it into mugs or heat-resistant glasses.
Whether enjoyed by the fireside or shared with loved ones during a merry gathering, this low-carb version of a classic Christmas treat is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
So, raise your glass and toast to the joyous season with Keto Mulled Wine—a delightful concoction that allows you to savour the festivities without compromising your healthy lifestyle. Cheers to a keto-friendly Christmas!

Mulled Wine
Per serving
Ingredients
- 375 g (13.2 oz) red wine
- 375 g (13.2 oz) water
- 2 TB Madeira, (or medium Sherry)
- 1 medium lemon, (see prep notes below)
- 20 g (0.7 oz) fresh ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 TB powdered erythritol, confectioners
- 4 whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 whole star anise
Instructions
- Have all your ingredients ready. I have shown my FAVOURITE, easy-drinking red wine here, but you will recognise it easily because it is available in all UK stores.

- Add all the ingredients to a medium pan. *FOR THE LEMON, peel the lemon using a small, sharp paring knife, then scrape off as much of the white pith area from the peelings. I find the pith far too bitter. Alternatively, you could simply use a vegetable peeler to peel the lemon. Add the peelings to the pan. and squeeze in the lemon juice (catch the pips!).

- Bring the mixture to a light simmer for approx. 20-22 minutes.

- Strain the mixture (discarding the contents of the sieve) and serve warm. You may want to add fresh lemon slices or cinnamon sticks to garnish - but this is optional. Enjoy!
