Chicken wings can be a healthy addition to a keto meal plan. They are an excellent source of protein, which is vital for muscle maintenance and repair. Furthermore, they can be enhanced with a variety of spices and served with exciting keto-friendly side salads.
Chilies, known for their active compound capsaicin, can boost metabolism and aid in fat burning. Avocado provides heart-healthy monounsaturated fats and fibre, while olives offer healthy fats. Cucumbers are low in carbs and provide hydration and essential vitamins.
These ingredients not only enhance the flavour of chicken wings but also contribute to the overall nutritional profile of the meal.

Angry Chicken Wings with Cucumber Avo Salad

Ingredients
For the angry wings
- 1.5 kg (53 oz) chicken wings
- 2 tsp chilli powder, (add more for extra kick)
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper , (add more for extra kick)
- 1 tsp ground paprika
- 1 tsp garlic granules / garlic powder
For the cucumber avocado salad
- 1 large green chilli, finely chopped
- 8 g (0.3 oz) mint leaves, finely chopped
- 8 g (0.3 oz) coriander (cilantro) , finely chopped, plus extra to garnish
- 70 g (2.5 oz) green pitted olives, chopped very small
- 100 g (3.5 oz) baby plum tomatoes, chopped very small
- 1 avocado, diced very small
- 1 cucumber
- 1.5 TB olive oil
- 1 lemon, cut into wedges
Instructions
- Place the chicken wings in a large bowl. Scatter over the chilli powder, cayenne pepper, paprika and garlic granules. Season with salt and pepper. Get stuck in with clean hands and massage the spice mix into the wings. Lay the chicken wings out on the prepared baking tray and place the tray in the oven for 25 minutes.
- While the wings cook, finely chop the green chili, mint, coriander, green olives, tomatoes and avocado, place in a bowl. Trim the cucumber and remove the seedy, watery core. Finely chop the remaining flesh into small pieces and add to the salad. Add the olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Toss well to combine. Cut the lemon into wedges.
- Serve the wings with the salad and season with additional salt and pepper, if needed. Garnish with additional chopped coriander, and lemon wedges to squeeze over the whole lot.
